Not sure if I am aghast or amused that the aquatic pest that makes paddling many of our waterways un-paddleable when it is in full growth, has now hit Galveston too. Apparently the big flush and rush of floodwaters in Houston over the weekend uprooted a bunch of the water hyacinth, sent it down Buffalo Bayou/Houston Ship Channel, and now is on the beach in Galveston. Guess I'll have to go out and see for myself. Thankfully the saltwater should finally kill this stuff. Wouldn't it be a bummer if it started growing offshore?
