Water hyacinth invades Galveston beaches
Author Last Post
Not sure if I am aghast or amused that the aquatic pest that makes paddling many of our waterways un-paddleable when it is in full growth, has now hit Galveston too.  Apparently the big flush and rush of floodwaters in Houston over the weekend uprooted a bunch of the water hyacinth, sent it down Buffalo Bayou/Houston Ship Channel, and now is on the beach in Galveston.  Here is a screen shot of the news item from today's Galveston News:

Guess I'll have to go out and see for myself.  Thankfully the saltwater should finally kill this stuff.  Wouldn't it be a bummer if it started growing offshore?
