Put-in on 'Houston' side of the Lake Texana crossing off-59 (south of Houston after passing through nearest town Ganado (Northeast of put-in) and before crossing lake and reaching Edna (Southwest of put-in), boat ramp and parking lot adjacent to 59 northbound side of highway

Take out Same (ample parking)

Up and back, say, 10 miles depending on vigor of paddlers   Expect it to be sunny, hot and humid, wind.   Contemplate bugs, bring ample water,  Birds and alligators, pretty stretch of river unmarred by plastic bags, little marshy ‘coves’ of the river.

Cap of 12 watercraft

General Plan:

Meet at Put-In at 9:30

Offload kayaks, canoes & gear

Start GPS

Ready to go by 10:00

Paddle out to sand island south of the put-in, respectful distance if it’s serving as a rookerie.

Reverse and go under highway bridge, up-river 4-6 miles

Reverse & go with the flow

Lunch on or adjacent to river

There are good Barbeque joints and crawfish/seafood spot (Pinchers) on 59 on the way back to Houston
