What is this?
This will be a casual out and back paddle trip - either on Champion Lake or Picketts Bayou. We will meet at the Butterfly Garden, about 100 yards before the turn to the selected boat ramp. Map showing the location of the butterfly garden is here: https://www.fws.gov/uploadedFiles/map-hike-ChampLakePOI2013.pdf
Our trip will be less than 8 miles. I am pushing my daughter Ellen in my canoe and not up for a vigorous paddle. Do bring sun protection, plenty of water to stay hydrated, and a light snack or lunch. You must wear your PFD.
Since this is an official Houston Canoe Club trip, you will be required to have a signed waiver on file with HCC; if you are not a member (or ACA member) you will be required to pay a $5 fee for our insurance and sign a waiver.
Any questions, please call me at 832 561 3646; or email at texwiest@gmail.com. The phone number listed with our web posting is my home number and i will not be able to access it after I leave Sunday morning. Please let me know your cell number - in case of a change in plans I will need to be able to contact you.
I look forward to seeing you on the water.
