Stewart Beach
Galveston, TX
Additional Info:

Registration is required

As part of the global celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8, the non-profit organization Artist Boat is organizing a “World Oceans Day Festival and Art Contest,” to be held at Stewart Beach in Galveston, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 8.  To give visitors a chance to try their hand at paddling, possibly for the first time, arrangements are being made for a 20 foot x 40 foot paddling pool.   We need six on-the-water volunteers to provide for paddler assistance and safety (four to help participants board and exit kayaks for a 10-minute test paddle around the pool, and another two out in the middle of the pool).  Boats and life jackets will be provided, so volunteers only need to bring themselves (and their favorite life jacket, if they wish).  To volunteer, please send an email addressed to Tom Douglas (HCC) at and Kendall Guidroz (Artist Boat) at
