San Jacinto Wilderness Christmas Bird Count

Full description:  We will be counting birds while paddling 15 miles on Peach Creek, Caney Creek, and the East Fork of the San Jacinto River.  We will launch at FM 1485 and Caney Creek and paddle a loop around to FM 1485 and the East Fork of the San Jacinto.  This route has been used in the past when Lake Houston Park is closed, and may involve some short portages and upstream paddling.

 

Skill Level:  Novice.  Generally flat water, but long, and requiring the ability to look at birds, while managing your boat.

Houston Canoe Club events require a current signed waiver for all HCC members. ACA members who are not HCC members are welcome to join us so long as they are card-carrying members of ACA and sign a waiver. Non-HCC and non-ACA members will be required to sign a waiver and pay a $5 fee to cover insurance for the event
