As many as 200 participants from all over Texas are expected to gather at the Bandera City River Park by the dam to clean 12 sections totaling 50 miles of the Medina River. Registration will be from 9 AM until noon and all participants will receive T-shirts (provided by Kerrville Recycling) and supplies for the cleanup. County Commissioner Bobby Harris and his cooking crew will have breakfast tacos and coffee available at registration. Bobby and his crew will also provide a lunch and a three-meet Bar-B-Que dinner from 5 to 7 PM for all volunteers and donors. Entertainment also is provided at the 5 to 7 PM Bar-B-Que.
Section heads have been identified for each of the 12 parts of the river and are listed on the web page for those who wish to paddle the river on cleanup day. Canoes are the responsibility of the paddlers and coordination with section heads on the shuttles is necessary.
For those who would like to camp, free camping is available on May 4th and 5th in the Bandera City Park and the Pioneer River Resort. RV sites with full hookups are available to river cleanup participants at Pioneer at half the normal rate. For reservations call 1-866-371-3751 or 830-796-3751 or email Judy Pace at pioneerrr@sbcglobal.net.
