Out and Back, leisurely paddle, maybe 4-5 miles in the cypress trees of Champion Lake. Plan to arrive at the Champion Lake boat launch area before 10:00 AM, where we'll unload and prep our boats, and get on the water before 10:30. We will paddle east from our launch while snapping photos and enjoying the random natural scenery and socially-distanced companionship. I will provide a scavenger hunt checklist for everyone with 20 items we are likely to encounter on this lake. Even the most lame among us will score at least a few points (cypress tree – check). After covering the eastern reaches (alligator - check), we will head west into the forests.
Wherever we are at noon, we will look for a shady, peaceful spot to hang out, and, for those who remembered to pack some vittles, eat our lunch/snack.
It looks like weather will be nice (68-77°F from 10AM to 2PM), with virtually no cloud cover or chance of rain - I will be bringing a hat, water, snack/lunch, sunglasses, camera and sun protection. Registrations are limited, but it is a public place . . .
