Concert Series 5: Heart, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, and Elle King at Lake Woodlands

WHAT:
We will forego the traditional paddle around Lake Woodlands and proceed directly to the canal next to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion where the concert starts at 7:00.  Scheduled to appear with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart ("Magic Man") at this event are Joan Jett and the Blackhearts ("I Love Rock 'n Roll") and Elle King ("Ex's & Oh's").  Please note that this is a very obstructed view (you cannot see anything of the stage), and impaired audio, but with these artists, the audio should come through pretty well in spite of the distance.

WHERE:
Orient yourself by driving through the Whole Foods parking lot toward the water, with the entrance to Whole Foods on your right.  As you are driving past the entrance, you will see a gap between the 7-story buildings in front of you just to the left of straight ahead.  At the end of the parking lot, jog left and take the unnamed road between these  buildings (red and white construction barriers on the left side) to the circle at the end.  Drop your boat and gear there at the kayak rental sign and go back to park in the Whole Foods parking lot.  You might want to make a pit stop there as well, if you feel so inclined.

BRING "FER SHER":
  • Kayak/Canoe (no kayak rentals available at this time of night.)
  • Light on the stern of the boat (US Coast Guard requirement)
  • Paddle
  • PFD

RECOMMENDED / OPTIONAL:

  • Dinner / Refreshments (no glass containers) / Snacks
  • The usual Sunglasses, Bug Spray, Hat and Safety Gear
  • An Anchor System, if you have one
  • Extra Seat Cushioning (optional)
SKILL LEVEL:
Novice+ (all skill levels)
