Obituary:

Marilyn Joyce (Spitzer) Peery
1934-2018

Marilyn Joyce (Spitzer) Peery was Born in Clinton, Illinois on December 31, 1934. She passed away peacefully with her husband and friend at her side on October 31, 2018. Marilyn enjoyed canoeing, white-water rivers, scuba diving, camping, skiing, hiking, and all outdoor activities. She also liked arts and crafts, sewing, knitting, painting, reading, wood working, and spending time with her family and Red Hat Society friends. Marilyn enjoyed playing piano, guitar, and singing.

She graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and received her Masters' in Education from University of Houston. Marilyn retired from H.I.S.D. having taught home economics at both Wheatley High School and Deady Middle School.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Cliff Peery, son Bob Dawkins wife Carol, son Don Dawkins wife Helen, daughter Tanya Dawkins husband Byron Geannopoulos, sister Sandra Elliott husband Jim. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Stephen Dawkins, Christina and husband Steven Talbot, Andrea, Megan and Hanna Dawkins, Zoe and Austin Geannopoulos and two great grandchildren Aria and August Talbot.

The family will plan a celebration of her life in Houston, TX at a later date.

Fraser Baker:
An outstanding paddler, often standing up in her canoe while on moving water and kept up with her husband, Cliff on high class moving water. She was also a gracious host, hosting parties at her house. In the party pic shown she is in red, surrounded by her friends: Donna Grimes, Carrie Claffey, Janice Baker, Martha Hulsebosch (another departed soul) and Honey Leveen (current HCC Commodore).
