Armand Bayou Watershed Partnership
by Natalie Wiest

As the representative of Houston Canoe Club and recreational interests, I sit on the Council of the Armand Bayou Watershed Partnership, and also on its Outreach Committee. The Vision for ABWP is to take care of the bayou and the watershed and make this area a great place to live, work, and play. I know you’d like to know updates on current activities, and get some future dates on your calendars.

You can see from the trip reports section of this newsletter that I’ve enjoyed a very recent paddle trip on the bayou. You will be pleased to know that the Armand Bayou Coastal Preserve (the tidally-influenced part of the bayou) is expanding its Paddle Trail, including new location markers and a kiosk coming soon.

Trash Bash will be held at the Nature Center (and presumably Bay Area Park) on March 23.  Galveston Bay Foundation is coordinating it for this year; you might want to check the GBF website for further information, and I’ll share it here as well if/when I get it.

Several months down the road, the Partnership will be having a public meeting and information session at Clear Lake Park. I will be part of a panel talking about recreation at Armand Bayou. I’ll also be doing a book signing so if you still haven’t gotten your book signed, or would like to buy another one and get it signed, put May 14 (a Tuesday evening) on your calendar.

See you on the bayou!
