"Because there is water" Trip

Sunday, July 15, 22 2012

320 cfs per USGS 08171400

Air temps: 98 high

Distance: Three miles, San Marcos River Retreat to Sculls Crossing

Trip Participants: Debbie Snow, John Ohrt, Howard, Tommy, Christy Long

The San Marcos and Martindale area received a little rain and several of us decided to take a quick trip to the San Marcos. Five of us met around 11:00 at San Marcos Retreat and took to the river. At 320 cfs we did not have to search for deep areas in the parts of the river that are on the shallow side. The rapids were full of water and each had several places to play.

We expected tubers, but instead saw many anglers and spoke with a group of divers participating in a river clean up; and they were cleaning up on aluminum cans.
