Subject: Project Canoe

Hello Mr. Rich, My daughter just began her 2nd year teaching 4th Grade reading and writing.  This year the theme for her classroom is Explore/Adventure.  I quickly began looking for a canoe to put in her class for her students sit in and read.  In searching the internet I came upon the Houston Canoe Club website.  I was excited when I saw a post dated 6/30/2018 for Mr. Harp's project canoe.  I asked my husband to email Mr. Harp regarding his free canoe, but have not received a response.  Mr. Rich would you happen to know if the canoe is still available?  If so, what is the best way to reach Mr. Harp?  I would love to surprise my daughter and her students with a fun place to sit, read and write.

Thanks,

Rosalie Brillon

I believe that particular free canoe is already taken.  But if anyone else has an old canoe laying around they want to get rid of, this sounds like a good cause.  Contact Ms. Brillon directly.

On Kent Walters's Buffalo River trip in March, we stayed part of the time at a nice little campground and livery named Arrowhead Campground on the Caddo River in Caddo Gap, Arkansas. Strewn around the grounds is a sizable fleet of bent and broken canoes and kayaks. The owner told us we could have most any of them if we would just haul them off. It's a bit of a drive but some  probably are or could be made seaworthy, especially as a vessel for indoor reading lessons.
