Ryan Zinke, the new Secretary of the Interior has announced that he plans to review the status of all national Monuments, as a first step towards rescinding their protected status if he feels they were not created "without adequate public outreach and coordination with relevant stakeholders".
Translation: "If special business interests want to grab protected public lands for private profit, I'm their guy."
Sec. Zinke has requested public comment from May 12 until May 26th. Please check out this notice from American Whitewater, and, if you agree that this is a bad, bad idea, make your voice heard.
