If you would like to paddle Carpenter's Bayou, from the northwest corner of Sheldon Lake, it appears that it is free enough of aquatic weeds that we can paddle it now. It's been years since I've paddled it, and I only got as close to it as the corner of Sheldon Lake 2 weeks ago, so can't guarantee we can get through or for how long or how far. Will be meeting also at the "old" putin, a parking lot off Garrett Road, just east of Pineland Road. Even if Carpenter's isn't paddleable, we will take a circuit of Sheldon Lake to see the nesting birds so one way or the other we will get some nice paddling in. Do register online, or as a minimum send me an email at texwiest@gmail.com. Include your cell phone - we could also arrive there to find the access point is closed and we'll have to regroup at the boat ramp a few miles south on Pineland Road. I hope you may be free on a weekday to do an exploratory paddle.
