Paul and I arrived around 8:30 a.m., when the gates opened Saturday Morning April 1.
From Elkhart,Texas ,I live only 62 miles from Mexia/ Teague,Texas. Checked in quickly all prepaided and headed to campsite. Beautiful spot on the lake near the waters edge.
Water on the lake had a light chop from the wind. Paul unloaded the camp/cooking gear. A Kelty Tarp was a must for upcoming evening rain. I elected not to paddle, due to medications sill on, and packing my Girls- Mitzi Rat/Fox terrier 14 years,and Bella Belle Chihuahua/Jack Russell terrier 4 years.All headed to boat ramp to launch. I stayed behind behind with pups realize we needed etc. for evening POT LUCK. Loaded scooter and pups and headed to TEAGUE. Found best Walmart ever. Very clean, greeted by host and helped in everway, even loading and unlading my scooter.. Scooter is now my legs, due to Muscular Dystrophy, Rhumatoid Arthristis and Diabetes II. Yet, life goes on. !! Returned to campsite and parked my scooter and pups under beautiful oak tree. Admired the lake, Blue Heronsd, Red Birds, Nut Trashers ,Tit Mouse and Jay Birds.Pups alerted me to nearby squirrels. Paddlers returned. Got to see Julies's camper and set up. Real Nice !!.All decided to have supper around 5 p.m. Oh my, what a feast !!! Thanks to Paul for being my chef for our part of the POT LUCK.( Being spoiled ). Julie had hosted her first HCC Event and did a great job of organization and giving needed information for campers and paddlers. I decided to return back to Elkhart with Pups due to on coming storms approaching. Beautiful drive home, yet glad I went meeting new and old friends. Sunday early morning greeted me with thunder, lightening, wind and heavy rain. All camper who stayed behind headed to their homes SAFE on Sunday. !!!! Thanks to JULIE for a great weekend at Fort Parker State Park outside Teague and Mexia,Texas.
