Trash Bash Cancelled
Author Last Post

Good evening, Trash Bash volunteers.

Due to rising concerns and efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the Texas Conservation Fun (overall head of the Rivers, Lakes, Bays and Bayous Trash Bash) has decided to cancel the March 28th Trash Bash. Please make sure to inform your group/participants and anyone else who needs to be made aware of this event cancellation.

Here is the official statement on Trash Bash 2020 from the Texas Conservation Fund:

In the interest of public health, the 2020 Trash Bash event has been cancelled. It was to be held on March 28th here in the greater Houston area. The Texas Conservation Fund made this decision out of an abundance of caution following recent COVID-19 developments in an effort to mitigate the spread of this serious disease. This is the first time in 27 years that the event has been cancelled and we thank you all for your understanding.

The Galveston Bay Foundation has also made the decision to cancel some of our own events in March and April, including the Houston Oyster Festival and our Annual Meeting. Please know that we value each and every volunteer, and wish to look out for everyone’s safety and health in the midst of this pandemic. Our efforts to preserve and enhance Galveston Bay will continue, for now we are simply scaling back or cancelling our large gathering activities.

Thank you, and please stay safe!
