Paddle the Perdido River - border between Alabama ...
Author Last Post
I attended a conference last July at the Perdido Beach Resort in Alabama close to the Florida border. We took a charter bus to the Naval Air Museum in Florida which was definitely worth going to. I took a sailboat trip which went a short distance into the Gulf. I bought a fishing map of the Pensacola area as a souvanaeir at the West Marine nearby in Alabama which I am looking for to look for where the Alabama Florida boundary is at the coast. Across the road from the resort is a seafood restaurant that puts a line through fried since they steam their seafood. The beach is nice with clean sand and relatively clear water. The new Bucees is where the Beach Express road in Alabama comes off Interstate 10. I drove there in a long day but coming back I split into 2 days and saw the Chalmette Battlefield and the World War 2 museum in New Orleans.
I am registering and also another HASK member that I know of. It would be fun to have a group to hang out with.

If you register and want to save the 3.5% customer service fee for credit card payment, you can do that by printing, completing, and mailing in the necessary registration form and waiver with a check for the $499 trip cost. I learned that this morning but the website doesn't tell you how to do that.
The organization Paddle Florida is putting on a multi-day paddle April 11-16.  It is a for-fee trip, $500, but the shuttle, camping arrangements, and all meals are covered.  I am planning to attend, maybe more folks would like to give it a go too.  Complete information and registration is at:  http://www.paddleflorida.org/me/paddle-florida/flori-bama-expedition-on-the-perdido-river-14969.html  Part of the trip is an open-water crossing across a bay so kayaks with sprayskirts are highly recommended..  Total paddling mileage, 62.2
