Bacteria caution

FYI: Here is a link to monitored bacteria levels along the Texas Gulf Coast:

I have not been paddling for the last month because I have open wounds on my foot (cred for by a podiatrist). I remember a safety talk from long ago by Rudy Rivers who got an infection when he paddled the San Marcos. Rudy was a friend of everyone in HCC before he died several years ago of a heart attack. He played football for Auburn and even made training camp for the Patriots but not the regular season. Rudy started Octpaddlefest. I did go in the beach for a few minutes when I was at a conference in Alabama earlier this month but I immediately took a bath in my hotel room and applied Neosporin.

I need to get my Seda Glider sea kayak out when the foot heals since it had its 30th birthday earlier in July. Someone commented earlier about sea kayak navigation on Facebook. The best book to read is Fundamentals of Kayak Navigation by Burch. Charts can be found online to print in booklet form on the NOAA site. Most of my paddling is done on the water covered by chart 11332
Galveston to Cedar Lakes. An explanation of chart symbols can b found on Chart 1.
