Doug Peterson, who lives here in Houston, is in the process of planning a long canoe trip down the Mississippi River. He grew up in Davenport Iowa, which is right along the river, has done 250-300 mile long trips on the Mississippi in the past, and has a good handle on maps, charts, and the availability of resources in towns along the river. The plan is to camp along the river and on islands along the way.
