Spring Flotilla
Canoe Trail Goliad’s 12th Annual Spring Flotilla is Saturday, April 27th. There is still time to sign up for a wonderful float on Goliad's San Antonio River!

Since its inception, this family-friendly paddling event has drawn paddling and adventure club members from throughout the state, as well as first time paddlers. The Flotilla follows the 6.6-mile Goliad Paddling Trail route from the Highway 59 Bridge west of downtown Goliad to Goliad State Park & Historic Site. Also, this year for the experienced paddler, paddlers have the option to do the new 12-mile Riverdale Bridge Landing to Highway 59 Landing section of the paddle trail.

Registrationis required by noon on Wednesday, April 24th atwww.canoetrailgoliad.com.

Earth Day: In honor of Earth Day paddlers will be provided trash bags and asked to collect any trash along the river during their float.

Free shuttle service:Courtesy of the fine staff of Goliad State Park & Historic Site a free shuttle service will be provided from 9:00 am to 11:00 am for those starting their paddle at the Highway 59 Landing. For those doing the 12-mile Riverdale Bridge to Highway 59 Landing section, a shuttle will be provided by Canoe Trail Goliad. Paddlers also receive assistance getting their craft in and out of the river at the Goliad State Park landing during event hours.

Event Day Check-In and Procedures: On event day, all participants must check in at the Highway 59 Landing at the Highway 59 bridge west of Goliad on the San Antonio River.
Participants doing the Highway 59 Landing to Goliad State Park & Historic Site will unload their canoes, kayaks, and safety gear in the staging area at the Highway 59 Landing. Once unloaded, participants will drive to Goliad State Park where a shuttle service will return paddlers to their boat and gear. Shuttle service to the Highway 59 Landing will run from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Individuals driving into the park must check in at Park Headquarters. All camping rules and entrance fees apply.
For those doing the Riverdale section, after checking in at the Highway 59 Landing, proceed to the Riverdale Bridge, located northwest of the Highway 59 Landing on FM 1351. Participants will unload gear there and those requiring shuttle service will return to the Highway 59 Landing. A single shuttle will leave the Highway 59 Landing promptly at 9:00 am. Riverdale paddlers should plan to start the paddle no later than 10:00 am and plan for a three to four hours to arrive at the Highway 59 landing.
Paddlers must supply their own craft and safety equipment. The flotilla and shuttle service are subject to cancellation through 8:00 am on event day due to weather and/or flow conditions. Contact Goliad State Park at (361) 645-3405 for event status.

Free Lunch: After a fun float enjoy a free lunch sponsored by Coleto Creek Power Plant from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Goliad State Park’s Group Dining Hall. Then plan to explore the beautiful City of Goliad and its historic courthouse Square with its variety of antique and gift shops, fabulous restaurants, and old-growth oak trees, including the famous Hanging Tree. Don’t miss the Presidio La Bahia, the Mission Nuestra Senora del Espiritu Santo de Zuniga at Goliad State Park, General Zaragoza’s (the hero of Cinco de Mayo) birthplace, the newly dedicated El Camino Real de los Tejas Headquarters, and the Fannin Monument!

The flotilla is hosted in partnership with the San Antonio River Authority, Goliad State Park and Historic Site and Canoe Trail Goliad. It is staffed by volunteers coordinated through the non-profit Canoe Trail Goliad, Inc., and by staff members from the San Antonio River Authority and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
