Trash Bash, Armand Bayou Area listed on calendar, ...
Author Last Post
Hi Frank,
I am just seeing your email. I chose Dickinson Bayou and added it to the event calendar, uploaded to the HCC facebook page and sent an email through the forum. Let me know what you and Liz are going to do.
Sincerely,
Christy
Christy;

Let's shift to the Kuhlman Gully clean-up. No big canoes  (it's a narrow space). They can use land based help as well. Plenty of trash.

Dear Paddlers,
The Armand Bayou Trash Bash will not have trash pickup from the water. See the following message from Ms Emily Ford.

I will check to see if Oyster Creek will have need of our boating services. Get back to you Thursday evening.

Sincerely Christy Long

Armand Bayou Trash Bash is moving locations
Harris County Precinct 2 has made the decision to continue to keep Bay Area Park closed through the weekend and thus cancelled our use of the park for the March 30th Trash Bash event. If you have questions about why the park is closed, please contact the Harris County Precinct 2 at (713)-455-8104.

Therefore, we are now going to host the Armand Bayou Trash Bash at the Pasadena Municipal Fairgrounds. Buses will be transporting volunteers from the fairgrounds to land-based cleanup locations around Armand Bayou, then bringing you back to the fairgrounds for lunch and prizes. Please see the attached document for address and directions to the Pasadena Fairgrounds.

***BOATERS, KAYAKERS AND CANOERS – due to this change, we no longer have an in-water cleanup effort available at our location, just on-foot. Please contact the following sites/locations to see if they can take on additional boaters/kayakers/canoers:

Dickinson Bayou site: Julie Masters, (713) 501-2225 or mayor@ci.dickinson.tx.us

Oyster Creek site:  Matt Neff, (937) 216-6292 or msneff@olinbc.com

For those of you who were hoping to stay at the park to clean, we will try to do a little cleanup work around the fairgrounds as well. Those with young children can stay at the fairgrounds to clean or hop on the bus that takes families to Clearlake High School to clean.

Before attending the Trash Bash event, please follow instructions and tips below:

  1. FILL OUT AND BRING THE TRASH BASH WAIVER (ATTACHED) - This must be signed by all participants, and adult legal guardians must sign for their minor (under age 18) participants. Fill out the form and bring the completed form with you on the day of the event at check-in.

  1. ARRIVE ON TIME – Late arrivals will not be able to board buses to clean, and will have to stay at the Pasadena Fairgrounds to clean.

  1. KNOW WHERE TO GO

Meetup/check-in Location

  • Meet at the Pasadena Fairgrounds at 7902 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX 77505, and drive to the back of the property to park (near where the strawberry festival and rodeo arena area).
  • PLEASE CARPOOL – park near the rodeo arena
  • Registration/check-in is at the rodeo arena.

  1. PREPARE FOR THE DAY

What will you be doing?

You and or your group will be given materials to help pick-up trash and recyclable waste at set locations around the Armand Bayou waterway (land-based clean-up on foot). Buses at the Pasadena Fairgrounds will take volunteer groups to various locations to conduct clean-ups (unless you wish to stay at the fairgrounds to clean). There will be a leader at each location that the buses drop you off at. The buses will take all groups back to the fairgrounds for lunch around 11:15 a.m. More information on the buses, locations where they go, etc. will be available at the check-in area of the fairgrounds on the day-of the event, and our event helpers will aid in choosing the best bus/location for your group.

I'm scouting for a partner with a canoe, in which I could be a trash-gathering bowsman (bowsperson) this next Saturday morning during the Bay Area park cleanup.  Feel free to contact me directly - davidportzattorney@yahoo.com

I'm also encouraging sign-ups -- seeking to stimulate HCC turnout at this or the other trash-bash events in the area*.

For convenience, here's a link to the Bay Area Park trash bash Christy is https://thcc.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=496051&item_id=938158

* e.g., here's another one (in which many HCC members have assisted in the past): "the 26th Annual Rivers, Lakes, Bays N Bayou's Trash Bash on Saturday, March 30th. [We] will be working at Kuhlman Gully, which is part of Gragg Park near the Houston Parks & Recreation Office off S. Wayside (approximately 5 minutes out of downtown on I-45S @ S. Wayside, near UH main campus).  Waivers and more information available at http://www.trashbash.org/uploads/2/2/0/8/22083236/kuhlman_gully_site_information_2019.pdf
Hi All,

I posted the Trash Bash at Armand Bayou on the HCC Calendar. Please sign up so I will know who to look for. If you cannot sign up through the HCC calendar, send me a text at 281-415-8087.

I will arrive at the Bay Area Park launch site around 7:30 am, to off load my boat and gear, get HCC participates to sign the HCC list, and at 8:30 to get registered with the Trash Bash folks.

Trash Bash will pass out bags and gloves.

We should be back to the launch site by 11:30 to load boats, pack up gear, clean up and get to the lunch site by noon. They will serve hot dos, peanut butter sandwiches, drinks, chips and cookies. The door prizes are given away during lunch by wrist band numbers.

Contact me with questions.
Sincerely,
Christy Long
