Author Last Post

Nutria are large semi-aquatic rodents that were introduced into the US from South America. Now, they are causing extensive damage to coastal habitats around the Gulf of Mexico. Three young Australian film directors were so taken by this story that they traveled to Louisiana to shoot the 71-minute multi award-winning film “Rodents of Unusual Size.” The film will be shown at the Rice Media Center (2030 University Blvd, near Stockton and University) on Wednesday August 15 as part of the Houston Green Film Series. Meeting time is 6:30, with the film screening to begin at 7:00. Panelists for the discussion to follow the film will include Shannon Tompkins, who covers outdoor recreation and natural resource issues for the Houston Chronicle, and Linda Tschirhart-Hejl, the district supervisor for Texas A&M Agrilife Extension-Texas Wildlife Services.
