I got out to paddle for the first time this year. I have not paddled because of health problems (mine, parents and truck. I paddled with the Brazoria County Parks Department trip from the San Luis county park to Bird Island. There were many pelicans by the boat ramp. Bird Island is about half sand beach and half scrub vegetation. I saw sea gulls, rosetta spoonbills and heron there. I have submitted a longer story for the Waterline. BTW, the county has sit on tops and equipment for those who do not have their own.
