HOWDY From Dry and HOT East Texas- Neches River
Author Last Post
Since Z mentioned the Crystal River, I heard a sermon 2 weeks ago with a proof text of Revelations 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. I assume this river must even be clearer than the Frio. The sermon mentioned that rivers symbolizes God's love since rivers are necessary to life in the arid region of the Middle East. The preacher mentioned that he liked the artificial lazy rivers but I  was thinking about the more active rivers I have been on. On a Pecos trip, there are easier rapids before you get to the flutes and the harder rapids downstream. The easier rapids help prepare you for what is to come downstream.

2018 has had some challenges for me so far. I broke my kneecap on February 1 and had to have it operated on. In May, I lost part of a big toe due to infection. I will soon have an operation to resection my lower colon to remove a cancer. It was probably caught early because I had a colonoscopy after my sister had one find cancer a couple of months earlier. Lynne has recovered all right since that.
Both of my parents are in bad health and I am helping to take care of them. I have to have a lot of work done on the pickup truck (timing chain, coil etc.) I got the truck out of the shop on Friday and was going to go on the Brazoria County Small Boat Club trip on Saturday. I had to cancel because I lost the key but I finally remembered too late where I had a spare key which was on Saturday night. I will have other chances to go paddling.

I have been a member of HCC for 30 years and I knew many of the people that are not able to paddle with us anymore. They paddled when they were able to do it so do not put off paddling until it is too late. Be sure to get your colon checked if you are over 45-50.
