ooohhhh just say you are using it as a planter and not putting it back in the water.......so the marine paint isn't necessary

Best is any marine paint....... but wear your respirator, fumes are STRONG!!!

It's an Old Town Discovery from Far Flung in pretty good shape except for the big holes in the bottom. The friend who gave it to me thought it was appropriate cause it's the same kind Don Greene used on trips there. I"ll put photos of it and my new cabin on FaceBook.
Thank you, one and all, for the great, helpful messages.

What kind of canoe? I remember using an old wood and canvas canoe that they had used plain house paint on. If it is aluminum, maybe epoxy? You can go cheap (i.e. housepaint) and expect to repaint it every couple of years, or more expensive and make it go longer. However, nothing is "permanent" especially in full sunlight. Automobile paint? Mix in reflective beads to make it shine at night? Good luck!

I just got an old canoe to use as a planter on my land in Terlingua. I'd like to paint my address and some butterflies on it but don't know what kind of paint to use. Any advice would be appreciated.
