Looks like we will have a beautiful day on Saturday, time to take a spin on the water! Spring nesting and migrating birds should be showing up on Sheldon Lake. Phone call to the park office (Sheldon Lake State Park) assures me the "old" meeting/parking place off Garrett Road will be open for business so let's meet there by 9:30 and be ready to push off for a lake circumnavigation. Pace will be leisurely and distance approximately 4 miles. Bring a lunch, drinking water, hat, sunscreen etc. We may eat during or after the paddle, expect to be off the water by 2 p.m. Please sign up on our Event Calendar or send me an email: texwiest@gmail.com. Non-HCC members can come, but waivers will be required and a $5 fee if you are either a non-HCC member or a non_American Canoe Association member (bring your card if you are).
It's time to get out there and paddle.
