The Thursday Houston Chronicle mentioned that Don was happy to hear that the river otters had returned to Buffalo Bayou and his friends gave him evidence of their return. He could not go to see them in person then because he was on his deathbed from cancer. Most of the pollution in Buffalo Bayou had been cleaned up by then. The race on it had been renamed from Reeking to Buffalo Bayou. I remember Don when I am on the Rio and Buffalo Bayou because he and the guides introduced me to it.
