San Marcos River Clean-up!
Author Last Post
Fellow members:

Those members coming to the San Marcos River clean-up need to bring their ACA numbers (please!!), or be prepared to pay $5 for club liability insurance. That's just how it is. Also, if you can download a trip waiver form from the HCC website and fill it out ahead of time, it will save some hassle at the put-in. See the link below. Tom has reserved campsites 9, 10, and 11 for HCC.

The weather forecast, alas, is for chilly and wet, so dress appropriately, and BRING A SET OF DRY CLOTHES in a dry bag. (I'm going with neoprene and whitewater gear.) Make sure your lunch is waterproof, too. Remember - there are hot showers at Tom's and at Spencer's. And maybe the forecast will improve.

  SYOTR!

Frank, I will camp Saturday Night after the cleanup. Looking forward to the weekend.
Hey, everyone! It's less than two weeks until the San Marcos River Clean-up. I need to know ASAP how many people are planning to camp at Tom Goynes' place (San Marcos River Retreat), so I can tell Tom how many campsites to reserve for HCC.

Even if you do not plan to camp at Tom's, please contact me, or, even better, sign up on the trip calendar on the HCC website, so I'll know roughly how many people to expect. If anyone has any questions, feel free to e-mail me at <fgohrt@gmail.com>, or call me at 713-865-6482.

Thanks,
Frank
Well, folks, it's winter, so spring and the TRPA's annual San Marcos River Clean-up can't be far behind. This year, it will be on March 3rd, rain or shine. This is the major river stewardship event of the year for the HCC, and we need your help.

HCC covers the river from Tom Goynes' San Marcos River Retreat to Scull's Crossing:  https://www.google.com/maps/place/San+Marcos+River+Scout+Camp/@29.865326,-97.8908947,14z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x865ca96bef2d9cb9:0x954fa731b89a04ce!8m2!3d29.8584361!4d-97.8893873

It's about three miles of trash, mud, and big-time fun, so come join us, as we try our best to clean up the San Marcos, one of the club's favorite rivers. There will be free camping spaces available at Tom's place. (Remember that alcohol is not allowed at Tom's, so be cool.) Breakfast tacos will be provided Saturday morning. Afterwards, of course, there will be more barbecue, and desert, than you can eat at Spencer's campground, just downriver from Scull's. (Alcohol is allowed there, so BYO whatever.)

  A second posting will follow!
