Register Now for Saturday November 4thFall River Flotilla

There is still time to register for the Canoe Trail Goliad 16thAnnual Fall Harvest Flotilla! Join us Saturday, November 4th. Since its inception, this family-friendly paddling event has drawn paddling and adventure club members from throughout the state, as well as first time paddlers. The Flotilla follows the 6.6 mile Goliad Paddling Trail route from the Highway 59 Bridge west of downtown Goliad to Goliad State Park. By the way, plans are afoot to add 12 more river miles to the Goliad Paddle Trail.

Registration is required bynoononWednesday, November 1statwww.canoetrailgoliad.com. Paddlers are requested to bring a non-perishable food item to the float this year for collection and donation to the Goliad Food Bank.

All registered paddlers will receive free shuttle service courtesy of the fine staff of Goliad State Park from9:00 to 11:00 a.m.Paddlers also receive assistance getting their craft in and out of the river.

On event day, registered participants unload their canoes, kayaks and safety gear in the staging area on the north side of the Highway 59 bridge, which is west of downtown Goliad on the San Antonio River. Once unloaded, participants are invited to drive to Goliad State Park where a shuttle service will begin returning paddlers to their boat and gear at9:00 a.m. Shuttle service will continue until11:00 a.m.Individuals driving into the park must check-in at park headquarters. All camping rules and entrance fees apply.

Paddlers must supply their own craft and safety equipment. The flotilla and shuttle service are subject to cancellation through8:00 a.m.on event day due to weather and/or flow conditions. Contact Goliad State Park at(361) 645-3405for event status.

After a fun float you can enjoy a free lunch from11:30 AM to 1:30 PMat the park, sponsored by Dynegy, the owner of Coleto Creek Power, and then plan to explore the beautiful City of Goliad and its historic courthouse square.A wonderful variety of antique and gift shops, fabulous restaurants, and old-growth oak trees, including the famous Hanging Tree. And don’t forget the Presidio La Bahia, the Mission Nuestra Senora del Espiritu Santo de Zuniga at the State Park, General Zaragoza’s (the hero of Cinco de Mayo) birthplace, and the Fannin Monument! Then relax and listen to music at the dog and family friendly Goliad Brewing Company.

The flotilla is hosted in partnership with the San Antonio River Authority, Goliad State Park and Historic Site, and Canoe Trail Goliad.It is staffed by volunteers coordinated through the non-profit Canoe Trail Goliad, Inc., and by staff members from the San Antonio River Authority and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
