I just put a short "stub" on the HCC calendar to describe a leisurely flatwater paddle at TRNWR on Sunday, October 1. I don't want to reinjure my gimpy shoulder, so will be taking it easy as I paddle daughter Ellen around the refuge. Undecided if we will do Champion Lake, or Pickett's Bayou. It's going to be a beautiful day, gotta get out on the water. Sign up for this "gambler's choice" trip online and I will decide location, although we may also take a vote from the butterfly garden at the Refuge that morning. Usual caveat applies - if you're not a member, will have to pay that $5 fee and everyone has to have up to date waiver on file or signed that morning. This is a flatwater paddle either in the cypress lake, or forest lake, 8 miles or less.
Bring a light lunch or snack, wear your PFD, and bring canoe or kayak.
If you can't get registered online, shoot me an email: texwiest@gmail.com
It is rumored the soon-forthcoming Waterline newsletter will have a trip report on Pickett's Bayou last weekend.
Hope we see you on the water on Sunday morning.
