Symposium on Houston’s Bayous – October 19

Additional program details for the Bayou Preservation Association 2017 Annual Symposium are available now at www.bayoupreservation.org/BPASite/media/BPA/Symposium/BPA-2017-Symposium-Program-Final.pdf. Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday October 19, and the formal program will start up at 8:30 with Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and City of Houston Vice Mayor Pro-Tem Jerry Davis. Lunch, which is included in the event registration, will be served from 11:50 to 12:20.

 

One change from before is the presentation on “Buffalo Bayou: A Historical Perspective,” which will be given by Andrew Groocock.  A practicing artist and a docent at The Museum of Fine Arts, Andrew is also a past president of the Professional Tour Guide Association of Houston.

The Bayou Preservation Association’s 2017 Annual Symposium will focus on “Bayou Stewardship: From Awareness to Action.” Featured speakers will include Louis Aulbach and Anne Olson of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership; Beth White, Executive Director of the Houston Parks Board; Harris County Commissioner Jack Cagle; Russ Poppe, P,E., Executive Director of the Harris County Flood Control District; John Blount, P.E., Harris County Engineer; Dr. Kathlie Jeng-Bullock, P.E., from the Office of the City Engineer of the City of Houston; Jeff Taebel of the Houston-Galveston Area Council; Kyle Shelton of the Rice Kinder Institute; Bob Stokes, President of the Galveston Bay Foundation; and Sarah Bernhardt, Program Manager of the Galveston Bay Estuary Program.
