This month we're going to meet for dinner, prior to our monthly meeting, at 5:30 PM, at Jax Grill, 6510 S Rice, Bellaire. http://www.yelp.com/biz/jax-grill-bellaire Prices at Jax are reasonable, they make lots of burgers, but they also have Mexican and "down home" food, plus salads, and more. Their menu is broad, service is fast and it's a fun place. They serve beer and wine. It's close to our meeting in Bayland Park.
Just show up for dinner around 5:30 PM, no need to reserve ahead of time. Call Honey with questions: 713-447-6197.
After dinner, proceed to Bayland Park for a great meeting starting at 7 PM. Arrive early for good fellowship.
Expect a fun, informative program, safety minute, conservation report, trip report, and more. HCC's Purser, Kent Walters's, program about how to choose the right boat is sure to be of interest!
Arrive early to socialize.

Choosing the Right Boat for You
As we venture out into the various kinds of water and conditions that we encounter on our little expeditions, we can make almost any canoe or kayak work, as long as it doesn’t leak. That said, there are very clear advantages to matching the watercraft to the conditions, when possible. Conversely, there are some very clear disadvantages to some combinations. This presentation focuses on what Kent has learned from his experiences with a dozen or so Craig’s List boats, numerous rentals, five major categories of water and some of his engineering background considering “what the water sees”, materials and practical applications. |
