Public Invited to Learn about Big Thicket Toll Road Proposal
August 2016
The Coalition Against the 105 Toll Road invites you to join us for lunch and learning about the proposed 105 Toll Road, Wednesday, September 14, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, in the conference room of the Big Thicket Association. BTA’s office is in the Foundations of Southeast Texas building, 700 North Street, Beaumont, TX 77701.
The proposed toll road would cross the Neches River at Collier’s Ferry Park and traverse several miles of wetlands in the Big Thicket National Preserve. Opponents of the toll road have identified numerous problems with the project, in addition to the heavy environmental “toll” it would take. The sponsors’ revenue projections are not reasonable. Neighborhoods and businesses would be negatively affected. The toll road design would route traffic to a highway not big enough to handle it.
The Coalition Against the 105 Toll Road is comprised of TCA and other citizen groups, including three of TCA’s member organizations, National Park Conservation Association, Big Thicket Association, and Big Thicket Natural Heritage Trust.
