Greetings!
The Houston-Galveston Area City Nature challenge is going to run this Friday (April 24) to Monday (April 27). It would be great to get some participation from HCC on area rivers. This year the challenge does not have any formal scheduled outings and is observing CDC guidelines for social distancing.
If you would like to participate, all you need to do is set up and i-Naturalist account from your computer and/or download the App to your smart phone. If you are out and about during those four days, just photograph and/or log your sightings to the App or through your computer from real photos, and it will be counted toward the region's total species and sightings.
I plan to hit my own backyard swamp, the Trinity Delta, Bates Allen Park, and maybe some section of the Brazos. Anyone interested in coming out and keeping your distance is welcome. I'll provide information on when/where to interested parties.
You don't have to be experts to do this. You can post things with tentative ids or as needing an ID. Works either way, and some expert out there will look and correct.
